Meet Jane

Jane grew up in a pastor’s family in Orange County, CA. Though she never considered herself a “kid person” she started working part time in the Children’s Ministry of Garden Grove Community Church (later known as the Crystal Cathedral), serving the hundreds of Sunday School volunteers.

Jane attended Seattle Pacific University (’80), and was involved during her college in the student leadership for University Ministries at University Presbyterian Church (Seattle).  She did summer internships back at her home church and at UPC and began to hear a surprising call to Children’s Ministries. After graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary (’83), she was called to Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (CA) and ordained as the Pastor of Children’s Ministries. She served there 25 years.  

Jane is married to Craig Van Antwerp. They have two grown daughters who live in Seattle. After Craig suffered a massive stroke in 2003, they began thinking about “retiring” to be near their family in Seattle. In 2007, they found a house on a point in Puget Sound and moved.  

Jane is now the Executive Director and Pastor of Beyond the Blue Ministries, dedicated to developing resources for churches and families as they disciple the youngest generation.
